Yamaha 3050 manual
It is now possible to use the AV Controller App to adjust the DSP parameters in a basic or advanced mode to match the mood of your favorite movie or music album. You will enjoy the excellent sound quality of these various high-resolution audio codecs from the USB input on the front panel or from network connected devices.
Because the digital signal from the iPod and iPhone is transmitted directly to the AV receiver, there is no signal-loss or interference. You get to enjoy the best possible sound quality.
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. The Compressed Music Enhancer from Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should. Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music.
Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard. After this, YPAO calibrates all of the audio parameters to achieve optimum sound at any of the listening positions in the theater. It employs Reflected Sound Control to correct early reflections for studio-quality surround sound playback. Human ears have less sensitivity to high and low frequencies, especially at lower volumes. YPAO Volume applies loudness EQ correction to automatically adjust high and low frequency levels as the volume changes.
This exclusive low-range enhancement technology delivers richer bass than you would expect from the speaker size while maintaining good localization and sound balance even with compact front speakers. When a subwoofer is used, it improves the volume of the entire low range of the speaker system, not only the front speakers, but also enhancing the bass from the subwoofer. You'll enjoy video and music with sound that has exceptional power and presence. Simply place the surround speakers in the front of the listening area to enjoy a virtual 5-channel surround sound with superior rear virtual sound localization.
In addition, this model also features a Virtual Surround Back Speaker function. Even without using surround back speakers, you can experience more natural, lifelike sound from behind you without physical speakers being installed in the surround back area of the listening environment.
This app assists you with cable connections between the AV receiver and source devices. Additionally, it guides you through various settings such as speaker connections, TV and source device connections and power amplifier assignments. System illustrations and actual AV receiver images help you understand how to make the connections between devices. The Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused soundstage while providing a seamless frequency response.
Subwoofer Trim Control takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound. Intelligent Amp Assign automatically assigns amplifier channels to certain speakers, depending on what speaker layout is selected.
For example, in a 9. However, when Zone 2 is powered on, the power to the two surround back channels will automatically be redirected to the two speakers in Zone 2 and the Main Zone will receive 7. All three models feature 7. In fact, the RX-A allows you to expand your system to a full fledged 7. The latest graphical user interface from Yamaha has a high-resolution display with clear, easy-to-use menus and also includes a selectable status bar that shows input source, volume level, DSP mode and audio format.

Love the difference so far but wondering what others are using when it comes to YPAO volume?
I've got it on just now with adaptive drc off. I've also turned off the vps setting as I have real front presence speakers and the back didn't seem to make much difference. Presumably using tidal and AirPlay to the amp won't be as good quality as connecting my computer through my oppo dac by cable. Lastly I get the w1 out of phase error on my left front height but it's definitely wired correctly. The manual suggests that YPAO can wrongly detect speakers as out of phase when they aren't. Littlemike Active Member.
ScottW75 said:. Littlemike said:. Try swapping your left and right height speakers to see if the fault follows the speaker. You could swap just the speakers over or just swap the wires around on the back of the amp to try it -connect the left speaker to the right hand posts and the right speaker to the left posts.
One pair of new speakers I bought had the wiring on the inside of the speakers, at the back of the wiring posts connected the wrong way around, it was the amp detecting out of phase wiring that led me to it after checking that my own wiring was connected the correct way around. Colin Active Member. Right i've changed the wiring of the speakers at the back of the amp and it now says the right fromt presence is out of phase Which is still the left speaker so the fault didn't move.
I guess this proves that my wiring to the speaker is correct? Wiring the left front presence out of phase on the back of the amp and the fault is goes away but this doesn't really prove anything. I guess my next step is to swap the speakers over and if the fault stays on the left side it's either the bracket is faulty or its the room as suggested in the manual.
If the fault moves to the right side its the speaker internally that's faulty? Colin said:. So the speaker swap makes it sound like it's nothing to do with the amp.
Either your wiring is wrong or the speaker or bracket has been wird wrong at factory but that's pretty unlikely. If this is too hard to do, then do the two speakers cables have identification marks? One side might have a black line or look different or it might have a rougher outer edge to the ctable sheath.
I suppose it's quite possible that you have it wired correctly as you would have likely already double checked, but if check again, as I think the chances of the speaker being weird incorrectly inside the speaker or matching bracket is very low.
Not impossible but very unlikely. I am using a pair of Klipsch speakers with mine. I have not had any problems.
They sound amazing. The built in subs totally eliminated the boomy bass I used to have when driving my single sub too high. I am totally happy with my selection. I just added the matched center speaker yesterday.
Although I haven't run a movie with the new center speaker, music in the 9-channel surround mode is now even better. Dynamic range and clarity is terrific. Eventually I will replace my in ceiling surrounds with Def Tec's as well. Any eight ohm speaker will work I believe. I am using 4 sets of speakers on my system, and they all work great. All are rated at eight ohms.
Well I tried hooking it up this way and it didn't work. It did find the front presence speakers though. Any other ideas? Joseph, that sounds correct, as per pp. My setup is currently 7. Actual mounting of the.
I believe the connection setup you are describing is correct. Try that and if it does not work properly, I suggest you contact Yamaha customer service- they were helpful to me. I use one of them as a dedicated home theater room set up with an additional 2 channel amp in a 7.
You should be able to use the amp without any problems as a 5. I use the other amp as a family room set up as 5. Then I have the zone 4 output set to HDMI and wired that into the Avenge rx amp 3 that I use for all of my outside speakers on my patio areas as well as the yard.
If you look at the picture of the back of the amplifier you should see all of the connections for the speakers and what you are trying to do should work. The front and rear ceiling speakers are connected as front and rear presence speakers.
The connection diagram is on page 27 of the manual. Your assumption is correct. Yes, this receiver works with all screen resolutions, up to and including 4k. Yes you will My 65 inch Samsung is not 4K and it works just fine. The Yamaha is not limited to 4K only, but as your needs for a bigger and better picture the Yamaha will not disappoint you today and later. Charles B. Yes, this receiver will pass multiple video signals including 4K and p. I read someplace that they were going to but sorry I can't remember where.
Maybe contacting Yamaha directly [ Cecil Feb 01, ]. To my knowledge, Yamaha does not intend to support Auro 3D. Not that I know of, as far as I'm concerned 4k has 3d beat.
But maybe 3d will get better? Not really sure here. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. BTW, the antenna adds 2. You should allow up to another 2. The bend radii of my stiff HDMI cables require the most space. The four 2. The key front-back dimension is 14" from the fronts of the front feet to the backs of the back feet, so a 14" shelf depth is good: otherwise the back feet could rest a little behind the shelf's edge.
To clear the AVR and cables, most cabinets have no backing material tempered hardboard behind the top shelf, or you can do it with a small saw.
My AVR is currently sitting on top of a It took some looking to find one that deep, but the AVR sits nicely on it with the cables hanging over the back. It would fit inside, but maybe 3" of the receiver including a little of the feet would hang out the open back. With slightly recessed glass doors, it fits easily inside. As I recall, it was in the Pioneer catalog about 15 years ago and it took some work to track down where to buy it.
Also consider a glass AV table. I have a 5'-wide two-shelf glass-and-black-metal-leg AV "rack" from an online store whose top shelf is 21" deep and lower shelf is It would work fine with the AVR on the top shelf 20" above the floor. Otherwise openings could possibly be punched out of the perforated panel behind the lower shelf to accommodate the AVR cables.
Paul S. The feet are recessed about 1. It is a deep amp. Not a major problem for me, but suggest you contact Yamaha Customer Service directly and discuss with them before you purchase the unit. Just measured mine. I use a Z-line Designs TV stand and the receiver has plenty of room. The feet are about 12" apart, center to center front to back.
They're each about 2 inches in diameter. The center of the front feet are about 2" back from the front panel, and the volume knob sticks out about 1" beyond the front panel. So, the first foot is centered about 3" back from the very front of the unit. The feet are about My numbers are approximate because I have the unit in a cabinet and can't easily pull it out to measure more exactly. Hope this helps. Hi : Yup it is a big amp. I have mine in an entertainment center.
The unit itself is 19 deep and about 18 wide, not counting any room for ventilation and cables in rear. I ran into the same issue. My cabinet was like 2 inches short of the depth. My solution was to cut out a back hole in my cabinet with an electric saw. So now the back sticks out and you can't see it. I figured to make little holes right behind other equipment like my blu ray player and cable box for easier hook up.
For that i used a 1. Now all my cables hang behind the cabinet. Apparently, no firmware upgrade is needed as was the case for earlier receivers and Atmos, although HDMI 2.
Especially check out the CNET and digitaltrends search results. Shumate [ Paul Sep 28, ]. Full support of HDMI 2. I am not sure, but if you go to the Yamaha website and look on the specification page for this model , if should tell you.
Yes, HDMI 2. I'm not really sure, I'd have to check the owners manual to know for sure. But someone at Crutchfield should be able to help, maybe their tech support dept. I will say this the is flagship reciever for Yamha, it seems like it should have the latest and greatest things.
I honestly don't remember. Have you downloaded the owner's manual? Correction, it does come with the HDMI 2. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone or online chat.
